How to Find a Language Exchange Partner

There are various ways of finding language exchange partner. You can look for one on websites such as iTalki.com or from a language-exchange social-networking app like HelloTalk. These will put you in touch with either native Chinese speakers or others who are also learning Chinese. You can then get in touch with them via Skype or other chat software.

Typically, say you've found a native Chinese speaker as your language partner, you would want to practice half an hour of Chinese, and practice half an hour of English in return. This is called a "language exchange." If an exchange does not appeal to you, you can also hire native speakers to practice with you for a small fee from the sites mentioned above.

As with all online social networking sites, your discretion is advised, especially when those you meet online request to meet you in person. If you are a minor, make sure your parents are informed.
